Students gain an all round training in production skills, developing technical, management and creative skills, and exploring how roles work in the wider production team. Students take part in short projects that provide opportunities to work practically, undertaking a variety of roles within a backstage crew.
Students will take responsibility for the entire production of a short film, from the writing and filming to the first broadcast, working with actors in rehearsal and on location. This provides opportunities for students to undertake roles within pre-production, performance and post-production.
Engage in practical sessions to explore skills related to opportunities and progression within the industry. Explore different platforms and content appropriate to a chosen specialism, discussing and developing techniques in progressing skills related to personal interests. Students work practically to examine and develop personal skills related to their chosen pathways.
Students explore collaborative skills, and work as part of a production team for live and pre-recorded projects. As a group, students consider the creative opportunities available, and create proposals, whilst exposing themselves to different roles and responsibilities that are part of organising a collaborative project, exploring the methods of presenting a project to an audience.
Learn the techniques required for acting on camera, focusing on subtlety, truthfulness, and adapting performances for different screen formats. This module covers camera awareness, hitting marks, and understanding shot composition, preparing students with the invaluable knowledge of the process a screen actor undertakes.
Explore potential career paths in the production arts industry by researching roles, networking with professionals, and gaining insight into the practical steps for entering the field. This module focuses on developing employability skills, from self-promotion to marketing, networking and professional conduct.
Study a range of acting techniques, encouraging students to experiment with various approaches to character development, physicality, and vocal work, broadening their understanding of the process an actor undertakes. Voice work enables students to use their voice effectively in a variety of real life settings.
Developing teamwork, communication, and creative decision-making skills through ensemble training. These classes emphasis the importance of collective responsibility in producing cohesive and dynamic group work and supports any creative process in the future.
Work with an acting student to produce a professional standard showreel, incorporating a monologue and duologue. Learn how to film in studio and location settings on two cameras, then edit the footage using pro software such as Adobe Premier or DaVinci Resolve.

At our brand new drama school in Islington, we have eight studios, sprung floors, mirrored walls, sound proofing and a studio theatre. Excellent learning support, including Apple imacs and macbooks, large interactive whiteboards, filming, lighting, editing & recording suites and sound equipment.
We have an excellent and necessary balance between 'care and support' and 'challenging and developing' our young people. Alongside our social and personal development programme, we have a trained on-site wellbeing team and access to further support when needed.
All our students have an individual learning plan. They speak regularly with a member of the team on a one-to-one basis to check on their progress and wellbeing. It is also an opportunity to set personal goals for their short and long term future to help maintain motivation and progression.
In addition to on-site libraries of plays, musicals and theory books, students have access to Drama Library Online, and Digital Theatre plus. They can search for material for their development or forthcoming auditions, and watch full performances from the Globe, RSC and National Theatre.
Our students gain valuable practical experience on the technical side of our theatre and film productions: working with performers on musicals and plays, actors on short films and showreels, conducting interviews, social media marketing and live broadcasts of shows and events. These are real life situations with the responsibility of a professional working in the industry.
While it is not compulsory, some free reduced rate and private top-up classes are available for our current students in the evening after college. Alongside an opportunity to learn additional styles such as Tap dance, these classes suit students wanting to gain further experience both on and off the stage and screen, expanding their knowledge of practitioners, playwrights and repertoire.
Our two year course, consisting of excellent training in production arts, also offers a wealth of transferable skills. Our graduates have gone on to work as performers, producers, directors, teachers, technicians and writers. The A-Level equivalent results have enabled previous students to change direction in their education, studying Law, Medicine and Psychology at University.
At Bodens College, once a student, always a student. In addition to our ongoing support and advice throughout your future, our graduates always have access to free and low cost rehearsal spaces when required, to help develop their varying careers in the arts. They also keep access to a wealth of knowledge, texts and recorded performances, should they need them at any time.
